"Feed"back on the new project!

"James Hemenway, the hottest  and newest disc out now by a bluegrass indie group, called WILD HARE, is a special treat for your hearing senses. It's 24 CARROT GOLD!   For anyone who likes traditional with a twist, some boogie swingin' grass, Great Pickin'  and GORGEOUS harmonies on blue songs that have been written with feelin' n flare... you simply must get this project.  WILD HARE is the next BIG THANG up the highway... or should we say, in the Carrot Patch. You have to gobble up this one before its gone, and like carrots are for hares.. it'll be GOOD FOR YA!

Hey Mac and Wesley,

Many thanks for sending me a copy of Wild Hare's superlative new project.  Susan Duffy is simply a brilliant songwriter, writing about a wide variety of subjects in a completely unique and fascinating manner.  You all have arranged the material in a very compelling fashion and have really concocted your own mesmerizing sound.  I especially enjoyed "Brother Willie Love & the Voices of Nashville" (a killer track that's probably my favorite), "Back in My Carolina's Arms, "One Tree Standing," "Corn Fritters" and the title track, but there isn't a weak song in the bunch.

I'll be doing my best to get the word out in Nashville and in our other syndicated locations.  Thanks again for the cool tunes!     Dave Higgs, Bluegrass Breakdown Host, Nashville Public Radio www.wpln.org

Hey Mac and Wesley,

Congratulations on James Hemenway!  I've been hosting "The Mud Acres Bluegrass Special" on Community Radio Station WORT-FM in Madison, Wisconsin, since 1979.  It's not strictly a bluegrass show-it's "bluegrass, newgrass, new acoustic music, a little acoustic swing, some old-time tunes and just about anything else that happens along."  Last week we featured your album, and my listeners went nuts!

One of the great things about doing bluegrass radio is the chance to hear some of the amazing music being put out by folks I've never heard of.  Wild Hare's James Hemenway is one of those albums that just knocked me out from the start!  The songs are great, the singing is great, the picking is soaked with that bluegrass soul that's the reason we all started listening to bluegrass in the first place.  Most recordings have cuts I can skip over to get to the good stuff, but not with this album-it's all great stuff, easily one of the top independent bluegrass releases of the past year.

Congratulations to you guys, and of course, to Susan for all her great songs!

Feel free to use any of these comments in your promo-you earned 'em.

Thanks so much for the CDs you sent-the album is great, really fun to listen to!  I recorded this weekend's show Thursday night and featured (3) tracks from the album and tried to mention WILD HARE as much as possible.  This weekend's show happens to be the last so I'm glad I was able to give you guys some publicity.  Please call me for anything and good luck to you, your son and everyone you make music with.  Talk to you soon.

Hey Fellers!

Just wanted to let you know the CD arrived in my WICR mailbox safe and sound.  Great sound, so refreshingly unlike anything out there!  The songwriting is top-knotch, and getting Randy involved was a good call. (Tim too!)  When I included you in the playlist this week I mentioned the Elberfeld connection and will continue to do so.  And listeners inquiring about your music will be given your web addy.  Take care and please stay in touch.

Driving bluegrass music self-labeled, as "soulgrass" is what you get with WILD HARE on their first CD "James Hemenway".  This is a CD of original songs written by Susan Duffy...very creative material with top quality recording values.  The driving force of this music is Mac McDonald whose natural high tenor voice and a burning love for the music jumps right off this CD.  Mac plays guitar and does lead and harmony vocals.  Other personnel includes Mac's son Wesley McDonald (upright bass & harmony vocals), Tim Crouch (fiddle, mandolin, acoustic guitar & banjo) and Randy Kohrs (Dobro).  From the first note to the last, every song is delivered with enthusiasm and passion...very refreshing and fun.  "Get hopped up on bluegrass" is the slogan of WILD HARE and you'll be doing that with one spin of the CD "James Hemenway."
