Mick "Slyyde" Cagle, the resonator guitar/dobro player for WILD HARE, is from Baldwyn, Mississippi. He has played in numerous regional bluegrass and country bands in Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee.
While growing up, he was surrounded by the music of his own family's gospel group in which he played the drums. Cagle says, "I really got interested in bluegrass after I met Uncle Josh Graves at a little southwestern Tennessee bluegrass festival. That's when I was set on fire with the sounds of slide." Later on, Cagle was introduced to Gene Wooten and began to "hang out with some of the dobro players in Nashville." Originally a drummer, Cagle eventually parlayed that approach to playing into his own percussive style on the dobro.
On the national level, Mick toured all over the United States with Karl Shiflett and Big Country Show. "That's when I learned how tough the road can be," says Cagle. "You figure out fast that you have to love what you're doing to stay out there."
Some of Mick's influences are Tim Graves, Rob Ickes, Randy Kohrs, Mike Auldridge, Kim Gardner, Johnnie Bellar, Stacy Phillips, and of course, Gene Wooten and Uncle Josh Graves.
